Dear Manager and/or Player,
This letter contains basic information for the Commonwealth Soccer League, Inc. (CSL) Fall 2010 season. CSL will support two “Open” Divisions―First and Second―and a Coed Division (7v7; men over 30 and women of any age; see website for more details). Interested parties should contact the league by phone or visit the league website for more information. Note: Players will be eligible to participate in both the Coed Division and one of the Open Divisions.
Registration Fees: All Divisions will be switching over to Per Player Fees beginning with the Fall 2010 season. Open Division (11v11) fees will be $85 per player up to 18 players ($40 per player over 18); Coed Rec Division (7v7) fees will be $70 per player up to 13 players ($40 per player over 13). Teams choosing to do so may pay a discounted team fee of: $1,300 for Open Division teams or $750 for Coed Rec Division teams [For players over 18 (Open Division) and 13 (Coed Rec Division), teams must still pay the addition fee listed above.]. These fees cover USASA and MDCVSA team registration, field rental, referee fees, etc. It is the league’s intent for the season to consist of a minimum of eight (8) games (any combination of regular-season, playoff and in-season tournament games). Playoff format will vary depending on the number of teams in each division. A team must have at least seven (7) players registered by the Team Registration Date listed below.
Player Registration: Each player and manager is required to be registered with CSL. The registration provides basic insurance (http://www.mdcvsa.org/insurancesummary.pdf) and player pass, which is valid for one “playing year.” Since the league will now be collecting per player fees, the New and Returning Player Registration Fees have been removed and will no longer be collected. Replacement of a “lost” player pass will still cost $6. ALL players and managers must fill out and turn in a Player Registration Form EVERY season, along with their player payment and player pass when registering for the given season. New players to CSL will still need to turn in all required paperwork, as per CSL Policies and Procedures (P&P), which can be found at on the league website. Managers must turn in a roster of players for their team. A registering player MUST be on this roster list in order to be registered for the given team.
Division Winner & Runner-Up Award: Before the Spring 2010 season, the CSL EBOD voted to award each Open Division (11v11) Champion and Runner-Up a monetary credit toward the following season’s registration fee. Each division’s Champion will receive a $1,000 credit, while each Runner-Up will receive a $500 credit. The stipulations for eligibility for these awards and associated rules changes will be posted on the league website under Policies & Procedures. A letter, which must be signed by each team manager and returned to the league, will also be distributed with team registration packages.
Important Deadlines for Managers and Players for the Fall 2010 Season:
